Workshop 13-14 May in 2009, Turbulence decay of the afternoon transition
Topic and objective:
This workshop will bring together research scientists who plan to work on this transitory part of the day, where all competitive forcings are weak, turbulence is decaying and the boundary layer is beginning to stratify, at the end of a convective day. This transition remains poorly understood, though it may have significant impacts on trace gas transport and scale interaction.
During the workshop, we will review previous work on the topic, pursue writing a white paper to initiate a project that involves observations, large eddy simulations and laboratory experiments, and plan future work.
